Skyline ECHS recruits 8th grade students subpopulation of at-risk students (as defined by PEIMS) including, but not limited to, students who are of low socioeconomic status, first generation college students, English language learners, students of color, all of whom are statistically underrepresented in higher education.
Our program targets students from the Dallas Independent School District middle schools, Dallas area charter schools, and surrounding private schools.
The Discover Dallas ISD is the official kick-off event for the 2023-2024 recruitment season. Our Early College Campus Coordinator, Administrator, and Early College Staff, including the Instructional Specialist, work together to recruit students, manage our online recruitment system, SchoolMint, and the recruitment process.
The coordinator works with the administrator to develop all recruitment/promotional materials, i.e., brochures, PowerPoint presentations, social media, and school website, etc.
All recruitment and enrollment materials are in English and Spanish.
We conduct interviews with new applicants and their parents/guardians to communicate about the unique design features of the Skyline ECHS program, the importance of high expectations, and commitment needed by both the prospective students and their parents/guardians. A lottery system is implemented to assist with selecting 125 rising 9th grade students.
