District Testing Information
In addition to regular test and quizzes within class, students in the Dallas ISD are tested several times a year through benchmark exams to measure how well they are learning the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully complete the course work for each subject and grade. Once a year in the spring, students take the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, a statewide exam that provides the information necessary to ensure that each school and the district are meeting state and federal education goals.
This March, students in third through ninth grades throughout Texas will take the new State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness, or STAAR,which encompasses a variety of changes, compared to previous tests, including the level of rigor and the way the test is administered.
