Food Services' fresh, hot meals take the cake
Food and Child Nutrition Services is making the transition from prepackaged foods back to fresh, hot meals, and Executive Chef Trina Nelson could not be more excited about it.
“During the pandemic, Dallas ISD never stopped feeding students—we just had to figure out a safe way to do it,” Nelson said. “We came up with the idea of prepackaged meals to get them through, but after so long, the kids are ready for something different. Now that school is moving to full swing, we have a huge opportunity to get back into cooking at the campuses.”

Dallas ISD launches shelf stable milk with Tetra Pak and Dairy Max
Dallas ISD, Tetra Pak and Dairy MAX are launching shelf stable dairy milk in nine schools throughout the district. Shelf stable milk comes packaged in environmentally sound aseptic carton packaging that does not require refrigeration until opened, is made primarily of renewable materials and is recyclable.

FCNS Driver Transforms Students Lives one Delivery at a Time
Food and Child Nutrition Services warehouse delivery driver Andres “Andy” Rodriguez has been working at Dallas ISD since he was invited to apply to the newly opened Food Services warehouse in 1992. He loves filling his time in meaningful ways, so even though he could retire as he approaches his 30th year in the district this fall, he is determined to continue transforming student lives.
