How are students selected for the AVID Elective?

The AVID Elective targets students in the academic middle – B, C, and even D students – who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard. These students are capable of completing a rigorous curriculum but are falling short of their potential. Often, they will be the first in their families to attend college, and many are from socio-economically disadvantaged families. Teachers, administrators, or other faculty members typically recommend students, and the selection process involves an interview.
