Celebrating Dallas ISD Soccer Success in 2021
A total of 21 Dallas ISD boys’ and girls’ soccer teams advanced to the 2021 Texas UIL State soccer playoffs, including Adamson, North Dallas, Pinkston, W.T. White and Wilmer-Hutchins, which each placed both their boys’ and girls’ teams in the playoffs.
Twelve of those teams won their bi-district game to reach the area round, including both the boys’ and girls’ teams from North Dallas, W.T. White and Wilmer-Hutchins. They were joined in the area round by girls’ teams from Pinkston, Roosevelt, Sunset and Woodrow Wilson and boys’ teams from Adamson and Kimball.
W.T. White senior Jonathan Gallardo was voted the most valuable player in District 11-5A. Kimball junior Jorge Morgado (12-5A) and North Dallas senior Bryan Coello (10-4A) were also selected as district MVPs. On the girls’ side, Woodrow Wilson senior Annabel Hett was the MVP of District 11-5A, while South Oak Cliff senior Jannet Cabrera and Roosevelt sophomore Logan Jacobs were the MVPs of Districts 12-5A and 10-4A, respectively.
Boys’ district coaches of the year are Rolando Tovar de la Paz of W.T. White in District 11-5A, R.J. Esparza of Kimball in 12-5A and Jose Aguirre of North Dallas in 10-4A. Girls’ coaches of the year include Woodrow Wilson’s Stephanie Peel in District 11-5A, Sunset’s Melissa Lopez in 12-5A and North Dallas’ Steph Stein in 10-4A. Each coach led their teams to district titles.
