Dr. Rudes' Message to the Class of 2020 families

Hello, Class of 2020 families-

My road trip has ended - but your adventure is just starting!  It's been so good to spend a few moments with each of you over the past two weeks.  I will treasure these memories for my lifetime.  I am incredibly proud of the resilient spirit of this class!

This will be a big week for all of you.  We have two events which celebrate your status as graduates of the Class of 2020:

1) Graduation:  Our graduation ceremony will be aired at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 27th.  You may access the link and information at

Parents & Students / 2020 Virtual Graduation Schedule
2020 Virtual Graduation Schedule Due to the COVID-19 threat, all Dallas ISD Class of 2020 graduation ceremonies will be held virtually. The ceremonies will run on a Dallas ISD Facebook page.

We have followed the same program as in past years and retained as many elements from the Meyerson Symphony Center as possible.  Each graduate has a slide which has a picture and lists future plans and high school honors. For the singing of the school song at the end of the ceremony, I am asking that you make a recording of yourself singing along with the organ so that we can make a compilation video!  We will send you the link to submit your videos this week.  The singing of our school song is a big tradition for our commencement ceremony , so I hope everyone will participate!

2) Senior Car Processional:  We will be hosting a processional for the Class of 2020 on Thursday, May 28th at 10:00 AM (all cars will report to their designated holding lots by 9:30 AM).  I have attached the directions and procession route to the e-mail I sent out earlier.  I want to highlight three important items:  1) You MUST remain in your car at all times, no exceptions.  2) A parent or designated adult must be driving - no graduates will be allowed to drive themselves for the processional.  3) There will be NO stopping at campus - everyone must turn right onto Routh Street at the end of the procession and proceed home.  Please review the attachment CLOSELY so that we don't have any problems on Thursday morning.

Thank you for being exceptional and awesome.  I look forward to celebrating with you this week!
