Recently Amended FFA, FFAC & FFAF Policies - October 28, 2021

On October 28, 2021, the Board of Trustees approved revisions to the following:

FFA (LOCAL) STUDENT WELFARE – WELLNESS AND HEALTH SERVICES

The amendment of FFA (LOCAL) will align to the composition of the School Health Advisory Council which was updated per BDF (Legal).  Attached is the final version approved by the Board.

FFAC (LOCAL) WELLNESS AND HEALTH SERVICES – MEDICAL TREATMENT

FFAC(LOCAL) was updated based on recommendations of TASB update 116 to include language on the administration of herbal or dietary supplements to meet the needs of students with 504 and IEP documentation. For students’ safety, language will be added to FFAC (REGULATION) to clarify who may administer nonprescription medication provided by the District with a standing physician order and District response for emergency care.

FFAF (LOCAL) WELLNESS AND HEALTH SERVICES – CARE PLANS

Language from FFAF (LOCAL) is being moved to FFAF (REGULATION) based on the recommendation of TASB update 114 that requires a district's policy on food allergies to be consistent with the Texas Department of State Health Services' Guidelines for the Care of Students with Food Allergies At-Risk for Anaphylaxis which incorporate recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act. The TASB update 114 also requires a summary of the Guidelines on the District's website and includes information on how to obtain the full document.

The above items have been sent to the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) for inclusion to the District’s “Policy On Line Manual.” Documents generally will post within a few weeks of adoption.
