On March 21, 2024, the Board of Trustees Approved Adoption/Amendment/Deletion of the following policies:

FFAC (LOCAL) WELLNESS AND HEALTH SERVICES: MEDICAL TREATMENT

Addition of language in this policy aligns with TASB Update 122 which includes language related to the provision of the opioid antagonists on campus. Language has also been included to comply with the suggestion of referring to the newly created Board Policy FFEB (Local) regarding the District’s approach to psychotropic medications.  Items in bold, blue or red, and underlined are added to denote recommendations from trustees.

FFB (LOCAL) STUDENT WELFARE: CRISIS INTERVENTION

This newly created policy reflects the most recent TASB Update 122 changes related to Threat Assessment teams established in the District.  Provisions pertaining to Threat Assessment were developed in alignment with FFB (LEGAL).  Text in bold, purple indicate Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) recommendations, text in bold, black, and underlined are added to denote District provisions.

FFE (LOCAL) STUDENT WELFARE: COUNSELING AND MENTAL HEALTH

With the issuance of Update 115, TASB deleted FFE(LEGAL) Student Welfare: Counseling and Mental Health from the District’s Board Policy Manual.  Administration recommended FFE (LOCAL) be deleted. Retained provisions from FFE (LOCAL) have been moved to other policies noted in this policy alert.

FFEA (LOCAL) STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS/COUNSELING: COMPEHENSIVE GUIDANCE PROGRAM

To align the title with other districts who display their policies through TASB’s Board Policy Manual and alignment with statutes, the title was revised to reflect COUNSELING AND MENTAL HEALTH: COUNSELING. Pertinent provisions from the deleted policy FFE (LOCAL) pertaining to Counseling were moved to this policy.

FFEB (LOCAL) COUNSELING AND MENTAL HEALTH: MENTAL HEALTH

This is a new local policy that aligns with FFEB(LEGAL) addressing mental health services provided in the District. The policy outlines the mental health clinician’s role and function, documentation of services, school based mental health policies and procedures, and the District’s stipulations pertaining to psychotropics. Pertinent provisions from the deleted FFE are incorporated into this new policy.
