Gonzalez in The Hub

After participating in chess tournaments throughout the year, more than 500 students from 120 Dallas ISD schools competed in the Districtwide Championship Chess Tournament at Conrad High School in May 2017.  Gonzalez Elementary placed 2nd in the elementary category and Jeremiah Tutt received the individual gold medal for his category.
Our cafeteria team at H.B. Gonzalez has won the Heart of Child Nutrition award for the 2nd year in a row, what an accomplishment!!!  We have one of the best cafeteria teams in the district and we are very proud of them.  Our team received a plaque that was presented to them as well as a gift of a Keurig coffee maker that they can use in their office.
Eight campuses have advanced to the next round in the NCAA’s Read to the Final Four® contest for Dallas Independent School District third-graders. Our students have done a terrific job and Gonzalez Elementary is one of the Elite 8 schools.
Mr. Juan Cordoba was selected as one of the eight finalists for 2016 Principal of the Year.  The eight finalists were honored for their remarkable accomplishments at a breakfast celebration on Friday, Dec. 9.
Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders at Dallas ISD’s Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary School each had the chance to pick a book to take home among about 1,000 donated books on Wednesday, June 1.




A surprise assembly in the school’s auditorium was put together by Principal Juan Cordoba and staff to showcase their true appreciation of all the cafeteria staff’s hard work and dedication.

Omar Colunga, a fifth-grade student from Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary, and his teammates had just 10 seconds to record the answer during the exhibition Super Quiz of the Lone Star Challenge, the elementary equivalent to Academic Decathlon and Academic Pentathlon.
