Working Together

Community Connection

October 6, 2017

We are grateful to share that Kimball Alumni are back home and meeting monthly to plan activities to support our student body. The mission of the alumni is to enhance school spirit, encourage student bonding, and to promote activities that will help create fun memories of high school. We invite all Kimball alumni to join the next meeting on Saturday, October 28, at 11:00am in Portable C.

One of the first events sponsored by alumni was Open Mic Night on Friday, September 29th, in Kimball’s auditorium. The event was free for the student body. Students performed their preferred act of song, dance, rap, spoken word, or instrumental solo. The event mirrored Showtime at the Apollo. Trevon Monroe won first place. Liberty Pena won second place. Asiyah Ibraheem & Ashanti Smith won third place. Each act received a cash prize of $175. Our community guests were DJ Phifer and Comedian Q Coleman. The mission to see the students have a good time was accomplished.

On Thursday, October 5th, we had the pleasure of interacting with two visiting community members, Chris Hacker, VP/Regional Engineering Manager of JLL and Pam Riley, Unit Manager of Capital One, who operated in the role of “Principal for a Day.” It was an interesting time for both to connect with faculty and students, and to learn more about Kimball Nation from a principal’s perspective.

Kimball Nation appreciates our community partners and welcomes more to come through our doors!
