October 2018 Board Meeting

  • Thank you to the world-famous Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band, the Prairie View A & M University Marching Storm Band and the Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul Band for visiting and performing at District 5 schools during their visits to Dallas. Our students enjoyed getting a taste of college through this entertaining approach.
  • Congratulations to District 5 alumnus Richmond Webb on his nomination into the NFL Hall of Fame. Richmond is a proud graduate of O. W. Holmes, Franklin Roosevelt High School and Texas A & M University.  He went on to play for the Miami Dolphins.
  • Congratulations to Hilary Rinella, dance teacher at W. T. White High School, for being named the 2018 Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance K-12 Teacher of the Year. Rinella was recognized for her leadership and dedication.
  • The State Board of Education named Dallas ISD parent and volunteer Marnie Glaser, who tirelessly worked last school year to make Preston Hollow Elementary School a child-centered environment with a strong literacy culture, a recipient of its Heroes for Children Award
  • Congratulations to Ms. Shelly Thibodaux, a physical education teacher and athletic coach at Robert T. Hill Middle School who was named SMU & NBC 5’s October Excellent Educator. This award honors educators across North Texas who go above and beyond.
