November 2018 Board Meeting

  • The Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship Academy at James W. Fannin hosted visiting guests from Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. The educators were in town to visit some of Dallas ISD’s great magnet and transformation schools.
  • Congratulations to Bryan Adams 2004 alumnus, Dominique Kirk, who was inducted into the Bryan Adams Pro Hall of Fame this past weekend. And kudos to B.A.’s early college program for being featured this morning on the latest Facebook Live episode of Best Schools in Dallas.
  • The Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce named Susan Moreno of Long Middle School as a Teacher of the Year.
  • Kudos to the outstanding Ms. Wakego Edordu, counselor at Billy Earl Dade Middle School on being named 2018 Texas Counselor of the Year by the American School Counselor Association. Ms. Edordu is also one of six finalists for the 2019 National School Counselor award which honors counselors who devote their careers to serving as advocates for students.
  • 12th grade varsity cheerleading captain, Erica Richardson, from Carter High School and cheerleading coach, Lachon Jacobs, put the district on the map. The cheerleader/coach duo received an all-expense paid trip to represent Dallas ISD in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
