District Accolades - 12/19/13

District Accolades From the December 19, 2013 Board Meeting

The David W. Carter High School Choir kicked off the holiday season with an appearance on WFAA’s Daybreak morning show.
Choir director Demetrius Ethley led about 30 students through acappella performances of Christmas carols and show tunes throughout much of the program.

Booker T. Washington’s jazz singers showed off their musical talents recently on Good Morning Texas.
Principal Scott Rudes accompanied the group as they demonstrated why they are well known across the country. The jazz singers have performed at prestigious venues such as the Monterey Jazz Festival.

The students at Multiple Careers Magnet continue to inspire us each year.
The students were recognized recently by Ch. 4’s Clarice Tinsley as Home Town Heroes. Each year, the students make wooden rocking horses and other crafts to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. It is a great tradition that continues to warm our hearts.

Students at Bush Elementary rallied to help others during the holidays.
The students collected 2,000 pounds in canned goods to donate to local charities.
