District Accolades - 2/27/14

District Accolades From the February 27, 2014 Board Meeting

Congratulations to the four schools nominated to be National Blue Ribbon Schools by the Department of Education
The schools are Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy, Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy, Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Early College High School and School of Business and Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center. Winners will be announced in September.

Kudos to the class of 2015
All Dallas ISD juniors took the SAT yesterday during the SAT School Day. The district covered the cost for each student to take the test. That’s about 9,000 students and one step closer to college.

Three schools were featured in Neighborsgo last week
Pinkston High School’s Law Academy, Boude Storey MS and band teacher Wes Walker, and Robert T. Hill MS.

Woodrow Wilson senior Stephanie Arnold was recognized by the Dallas Morning News as a “Good Kid”
Congratulations to her. She’s already been accepted to a number of colleges including UT-Austin and Clemson. She plans to major in chemical engineering.

District nurses were honored by D Magazine
Regina Miller, a nurse at Jerry Junkins ES, was honored with D Magazine’s Excellence in Dallas-Ft. Worth Nursing Award. Cynthia Smalling, from Lenore Kirk Hall ES and Nicole Wolf, from W.T. White were named as finalists.
