Thomas Jefferson students have summer theater experience at NYU
Five students from Thomas Jefferson High School attended the “Looking for Shakespeare” summer program at NYU. The program is an intensive study for theater students from across the country that provides them the opportunity to work with a director and a production team to produce a Shakespearian play on NYU’s campus.
Walnut Hill Elementary turns 100
Students, staff and the entire Walnut Hill Elementary community are celebrating the school’s 100-year anniversary. Activities are planned throughout the school year to commemorate this major milestone.
Schools named to Newsweek’s Best Schools list
The School for the Talented and Gifted at Townview ranked No. 36 on Newsweek’s 500 Best High Schools list. The school, along with the School of Science and Engineering (No. 229), earned high marks for the percentage of students who demonstrate college readiness as well as the graduation rate and the percentage of students who are college bound.
In addition, seven Dallas ISD schools were among 500 nationwide to be included on Newsweek’s “Beating the Odds” list that recognizes schools for their ability to overcome the challenges presented by poverty and prepare all students for college. “Trini” Garza Early College came in at the No. 16 spot on this list.
