As you may have heard, our Site Based Decision Making Committee has put forth a recommendation to eliminate class rank for all but the top 10% in each class. Per district policy, our school has engaged in a thoughtful process to evaluate the pros and cons of such a proposal. Our SBDM has voted unanimously to move this proposal forward. The research behind this decision was presented at a recent PTSA meeting.
To assist with understanding this proposal, we have attached the presentation to this message. We hope you will take a moment to review this presentation.
Class Rank SBDM Presentation:
We are now at the point of voting for this proposal. Each family has one vote, and we have included the link from the Dallas Independent School District for the parent survey with this communication. We have also sent a paper copy home today with each student containing a QR code and the link to the survey in English and Spanish. This survey is confidential and handled solely by the school district, not the school.
In order for this proposal to be considered, we must have at least 60% of our families respond to the survey. Out of those respondents, there must be a 60% or higher approval rate for the proposal to pass and go into effect. This survey will be open until Friday, March 22nd.
Our lead counselor, Mr. Smith, and I have also recorded a short video to accompany this communication, which you can view below. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Smith at email@example.com or myself at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this important survey.
