• General Information

At B. H. Macon Elementary School, our mission is "to value the individual child, to promote self-esteem, and to provide an education of excellence in a safe and nurturing environment."

Over the past five years, B. H. Macon has implemented many innovative programs and research-based instructional practices, placing student academic performance on an upward trend. We pride ourselves on challenging students to perform to their utmost potential.

The school staff connects with parents and the community to ensure student success. Parents are valued partners and are encouraged to participate in school activities. Our staff hosts support workshops for parents on subjects from health to homework. Other parent involvement opportunities include volunteering in classrooms, participating in PTO, attending monthly Coffee with the Principal and serving on the Site-Based Decision Making and Campus Improvement Planning committees.

    B. H. Macon Elementary has established "The Student's Garden," which was upgraded during Bond Construction in 2019-2020, serving as an outdoor classroom where students and teachers reconnect with nature and the true source of their food. Teachers teach valuable gardening and agricultural concepts and skills and integrate this learning with subjects such as math, science, art, health, physical education, and social studies, as well as several educational goals, including personal and social responsibility.  With our completed Bond Construction, we welcome our new PK-2nd Grade Learning Center with 16 new classrooms dedicated to building a new academic foundation for our youngest Macon Mustangs.
