Hello Mt. Auburn Families, 

This is Ernesto Guevara, or as I'm also known in the Mt. Auburn community, “Mr. G." As we enter a new year, I am excited to be able to continue my role at Mt. Auburn as principal. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California to two hard working immigrant parents,  I understand firsthand the difficulties and challenges that are present in urban schools like Mt Auburn. Before entering the classroom, I dedicated 10 years to giving back to my community by doing non-profit work focused around youth advocacy. 

In 2015, I began my educational career at Mt. Auburn working as a 4th and 5th grade teacher, helping students close their achievement gap. In 2019, I then became the math and science instructional coach at Mt. Auburn where I helped our teachers and students navigate the uncertainty of at home learning during the pandemic to minimize instructional time lost. In 2020, I was promoted to the position of Assistant Principal and at the same time worked towards my Masters Degree from SMU. 

I will continue to work hard everyday to support our school and more importantly our students. My goal is to make Mt. Auburn the premier STEAM academy in Dallas ISD. I will work to ensure our school doesn’t miss a beat and students continue to excel in a joyful and supportive environment.

Hola familias de Mt. Auburn,

Este es Ernesto Guevara, o como también me conocen en la comunidad de Mt. Auburn, “Mr. G." Al entrar en un nuevo año, me emociona poder continuar con mi función en Mt. Auburn como director. Nacido y criado en Los Ángeles, California, de dos padres inmigrantes, entiendo de primera mano las dificultades y los desafíos que se presentan en las escuelas urbanas como Mt Auburn. Antes de ingresar al salón de clases, dediqué 10 años a retribuir a mi comunidad haciendo trabajo sin fines de lucro centrado en apoyar los jóvenes.

En 2015, comencé mi carrera educativa en Mt. Auburn trabajando como maestro de 4.° y 5.° grado, ayudando a los estudiantes a cerrar sus difeciencias de rendimiento. En 2019, me convertí en el entrenador de instrucción de matemáticas y ciencias en Mt. Auburn, donde ayudé a nuestros maestros y estudiantes a navegar la incertidumbre del aprendizaje en el hogar durante la pandemia para minimizar el tiempo de instrucción perdido. En 2020, me ascendieron al puesto de Subdirector y, al mismo tiempo, trabajé para obtener mi Maestría en SMU.

Continuaré trabajando duro todos los días para apoyar a nuestra escuela y, lo que es más importante, a nuestros estudiantes. Mi objetivo es hacer de Mt. Auburn la principal academia STEAM en Dallas ISD. Trabajaré para asegurar que nuestra escuela no pierda el ritmo y que los estudiantes continúen sobresaliendo en un ambiente alegre y de apoyo.
