• Principal Lou Smith

    Greetings Kimball Nation!

It is my honor and privilege to serve as your principal. I am thankful to the former Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael Hinojosa, for this opportunity.

I have been in education for the past 26 years with most of my time being served at Kimball. My previous positions have been as a Special Education teacher, a Math teacher, a Math Department Chair, an Instructional Coach, an athletic coach, and an Assistant Principal.I am a strong believer in building relationships with all stakeholders of the school community in efforts to support our school mission and goals.

I have a very simple philosophy that has served me well, and that is, “Do what’s best for kids.”  Decisions that I make will always be representative of my philosophy. I am also a very visible principal, so expect me to greet you at the door, in classrooms and throughout the building. Visiting classrooms is my favorite part of the job, and staff can expect me to coach them about teaching practices and student learning on a regular basis.

I am a proud alumnus of The University of North Texas where I played football and received my bachelor’s degree in Electronics Technology. I have been married for 26 years and have two beautiful daughters--ages 24 and 18. They are both graduates of Dallas Independent School District with my oldest graduating from Townview Business and my youngest from Skyline.  I really love to spend time with family and enjoy cooking, doing home improvement projects, yard work and exercising.  I am also an avid sports fan, and when time permits, I enjoy watching live sports in person or on television.

I am here as a leader and supporter of your educational and social growth, Kimball Nation.  Let’s work together to make your child’s dreams become reality.

    In service and support,

    Llewellyn Smith, Principal
